Addicted to tanning? You’re about to get taxed!

If you can’t live without your golden tan, beware because the price of tanning is about to go up! The shocking news broke this morning, as part of President Obama’s new healthcare bill went into effect — a 10 percent federal tax has been stamped on all tanning services nationwide. The tax is part of an effort to stop people from tanning indoors because hello people, it’s bad for you!!! Omg I am the biggest advocate for sunscreen and not a fan of the fake tan look. Orange is not attractive! I don’t even like self tanner. I’d rather be pale. I grew up in sunny California as a sun goddess, and I’ve been paying the price for sun damage for years!!! I regret baking my body outdoors and at times indoors.

As we all know, our country is broke and the government needs more money and the new tax is expected to bring in $2.7 billion over 10 years! But there’s more to it than bringing in money, it’s for health reason’s people! The Melanoma Research Foundation reports: “The incidence of people under 30 developing melanoma is increasing faster than any other demographic group, soaring by 50 percent in young women since 1980.” Wow! Why would anyone want to tan after learning that??

Just like when the cigarette tax went into place, smokers still smoke! I’m afraid to say that I think some fans of tanning beds will still tan. Will you?
